MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The 11th-ranked West Virginia University wrestling squad (2-3, 1-0) will travel to Clarion (8-2, 1-0) for an Eastern Wrestling League match on Sunday, Feb. 2. The match will begin at 1 p.m. at the Waldo S. Tippin Gymnasium.
West Virginia leads the all-time series with the Golden Eagles 14-3 and won last year's meeting 23-12.
Bouts that feature ranked wrestlers from both teams are scheduled to be at 133 (WVU's No.11 Brandon Lauer against Clarion's No.10 Rad Martinez) and heavyweight (WVU's No.13 Brent Miller versus Clarion's No.6 John Testa).
Following Sunday's match with the Golden Eagles, West Virginia's Greg Jones will wrestle on Monday, Feb. 3, at the NWCA All-Star Classic. There he will face second-ranked and unbeaten Chris Pendleton of Oklahoma State. Mountaineer head coach Craig Turnbull will also be one of the coaches at the event for the second time in his career.
