MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – TeShawne Jackson, a senior West Virginia University gymnast, has been named EAGL gymnast of the week for her performance against Pitt, Kent State and Ball State last weekend.
The Summerville, S.C., native led West Virginia to a 3-0 start with her first-place all-around finish (39.325). She also set the WVU record for career 9.9+ scores with a 9.9 on the floor exercise in last weekend's meet at Fitzgerald Field House in Pittsburgh. Jackson moved into a first place tie with former Mountaineer Kristin Quackenbush by scoring a 9.9 on the vault as well. She currently has 37 career 9.9s, 17 of which have come on vault.
For Jackson, it is the fifth time in her career that she has been named EAGL gymnast of the week.
West Virginia returns to action on Sunday, January 19, when it travels to Central Michigan for a 2:00 p.m., meet.
