Gymnastics: Mountaineers Ranked 17th

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University gymnastics team moved up four spots from its No. 21 preseason ranking to No. 17 in the NACGC coaches poll this week.
West Virginia's highest event ranking came with a No.6 rating on vault, while the Mountaineers are also ranked on uneven bars (12) and balance beam (25).
Individually, senior TeShawne Jackson is the 16-ranked all-around performer. She also ranks in the top 20 on the floor (t-18) and vault (t-7).
Fellow senior Amanda Halovanic is currently ranked 24th on the uneven bars.
The Mountaineers opened the 2003 season with their best score since the 1996 season-opener with a 193.975 against EAGL rival Pitt (190.95), Kent State (193.825) and Ball State (192.825) on Saturday, January 11, at Fitzgerald Field House in Pittsburgh.
WVU returns to action on Sunday, January 19, when it travels to Central Michigan for a 2:00 p.m., meet.
