MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Trish Juhline scored 20 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead No. 24-ranked Villanova to a 53-43 victory over West Virginia Saturday afternoon at the WVU Coliseum.

Juhline, a 5-foot-10 guard from Havertown, Pa., shot nine-of-23 from the floor and added two-of-three from the free throw line for her team-high total. Katie Davis and Nicol Druckenmiller added 11 each for the Wildcats.
Guard Courtney Mix grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds for ‘Nova.
Villanova, now 12-2, 3-0, scored the first 10 points of the game and never trailed in the game. The closest West Virginia, now 10-2, 0-2, could get was down one on three occasions, the last time after a pair of Michelle Carter free throws to make it 38-37 Villanova with 7:14 left.
Villanova had a difficult time guarding West Virginia’s 6-2 junior. Carter finished with a game-high 21 points and 10 rebounds. However, the Mountaineers’ top two scorers Kate Bulger and Sherell Sowho managed just a combined six points. The duo came into the game averaging almost 32 points per game between them.
Sophomore Yolanda Paige contributed 14 points, but managed just one assist. Paige is the Big East’s assist leader with an average of nine per game entering today’s game.
West Virginia shot just 32.7 percent from the field including 0-for-5 from three-point distance. Villanova managed a 37-34 rebounding edge.
The Widlcats led at halftime 26-18.
The Mountaineers were playing their first game without their fourth-leading scorer Liz Holbrook, who suffered a high ankle sprain against Notre Dame Wednesday night. Holbrook scored 15 in the Notre Dame loss and is averaging better than 10 points per game.
West Virginia is looking for its first conference win of the season next Wednesday when it travels to Providence for a 7:30 p.m. encounter with the Lady Friars. Villanova is at Rutgers the same night.
