MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University's women's basketball team (9-0) puts its perfect mark on the line when it travels to Kansas City for a non-conference matchup with UMKC (4-5), Sunday, Dec. 29, at 3 p.m. (EST), at Swinney Recreation Center. It is the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
WVU enters the contest as just one of seven schools in the country to remain undefeated and is fresh off a 79-53 victory over Duquesne last Saturday. WVU received 27 votes in this week's Associated Press Top 25 poll and received one vote in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches' Poll.
The Mountaineers are led by junior guard Kate Bulger and her 16.8 points-per-game average. Bulger is just 27 points shy of becoming the school's 21st player to record 1,000 points in a career. Sophomore point guard Yolanda Paige leads the BIG EAST with 8.89 assists per game.
UMKC enters the matchup having won two straight and three of its last four. The Kangaroos most recently defeated Kansas, 74-62, last Saturday.
