Volleyball: WVU Falls to Miami

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University volleyball team (9-18, 3-9) lost to BIG EAST opponent Miami (22-4, 8-3) on Sunday afternoon, 3-0 (19-30, 23-30, 24-30) .
The Mountaineers were led by freshman Stephanie Zolna who had 10 kills and five digs. Freshman Julie Hockenson contributed with seven kills and three digs.
Junior Kristi King led the defensive effort with 11 digs. Freshman Kelly Mullins provided two service aces.
The Hurricanes were led by Valetia Titpiana who had 17 kills, five digs and five blocks. Marcela Gamarra had 15 kills and 10 digs.
The Mountaineers had a total of 43 team digs and four blocks.
West Virginia returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 7 p.m. for its final game against BIG EAST opponent Pitt in WVU Coliseum. WVU will honor seniors Rebecca Kosnac, Erica Montana and Lindsay Spieler prior to the start of the match.
