
West Virginia Closes Out Regular Season Against Kentucky

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 1-ranked West Virginia University rifle team is set to close out the regular season against No. 3 Kentucky with a shot at the program 16th Great American Rifle Conference Regular Season title on the line.
Saturday's match against the Wildcats is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. ET inside the UK Rifle Range in Lexington, Kentucky. With a win, the Mountaineers will claim the programs second straight GARC regular season title.

The Mountaineers are 23-13 all-time against Kentucky in a series that began in 1963.
West Virginia has won 25 straight regular-season matches, dating back to the beginning of the 2023-24 season. The Mountaineers' last loss came against the Wildcats on Feb. 11, 2023, on the road. Kentucky edged out WVU 4734-4726 in the match.
West Virginia's 4742.5 aggregate score is the best in the nation. WVU's 2356.3 mark in smallbore tops the national average while the 2386.2 in air rifle is also the best. Senior Gavin Barnick leads WVU in aggregate (1186.7), smallbore (589.9), and air rifle (596.5). He ranks sixth, fifth and sixth in the nation in each category, respectively.
