Rally Time with Katie DeMeo

Throughout the next couple months, each member of the West Virginia University volleyball team will share their thoughts on what it's like being a Division I student-athlete at West Virginia and what makes being a Mountaineer so special. Next up – freshman Katie DeMeo.
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Hey Mountaineers, it's Katie DeMeo!
Our spring season is in full gear with practices every day, starting at 6 a.m. Everyone has been working hard and putting in their max effort to get better individually and as a team.
Outside of practice, I have been dedicating a lot of time to my classes and have been trying to maintain a high GPA. Study hall hours are crucial when the homework starts to pile up. But with all the hard work we have put in over the past several weeks, both in practice and class, we are all very excited to have a well-earned break.
Lucky for us, spring break is right around the corner!
Many of us have big plans for spring break, as we are trying to escape to warmer weather. Me and some of the other freshmen are taking a trip to Florida to get the full spring break experience. We booked the earliest flight to Florida we could find, 6 a.m. on Saturday, so that we could get to the beach as soon as possible!
Our first stop is in Delray Beach, which is close to Ava's hometown. We are excited to spend time with her family and soak up some of the Florida sunshine. After spending a couple days in Delray, we are heading to Fort Lauderdale, where a couple of the upperclassmen also are staying!
We are excited to spend a week in the warm weather with lots of swimming, tanning, shopping, and of course, sleeping in! It will be a nice way to take a break from our routine schedules. It also is a great way for us to bond off the court.
I hope everyone enjoys their spring break, whether it's 75 and sunny or 25 and snowy!
