MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – West Virginia University second baseman Kyle Davis was named to Baseball America’s 2015 Freshman All-America Team, as announced the publication on Monday.
It marks the third All-America accolade for Davis, who previously garnered recognition on the Freshman All-America First Teams by the NWBCA and Louisville Slugger as selected by Collegiate Baseball newspaper earlier this month.
Davis led the Mountaineers with a .353 batting average and ranked third in the Big 12 with 17 doubles. He finished the season ranked fifth in hits and total bases and also finished inside the top 10 in slugging percentage and runs scored, posting a triple, four home runs and 31 RBIs.
For his efforts, the Cincinnati native was named to the All-Big 12 Rookie Team and All-Big 12 Second Team. Davis and teammate BJ Myers are the first WVU players to earn Freshman All-American honors since Jedd Gyorko in 2008.
