Men's Basketball: Young Named MVP

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Senior Frank Young was named Most Valuable Player of the WVU men’s basketball team at the squad’s 2006-07 banquet, held Thursday night in Morgantown.
Young, a native of Tallahassee, Fla., led the team in scoring at 15.3 points per game. He was named first team all-BIG EAST and MVP of the National Invitation Tournament. Young set the single season school record with 117 3-point field goals made this year.
Other award winners were Rob Summers (Most Improved and Unsung Hero), Da’Sean Butler (Best Defender and Sixth Man) and Darris Nichols (Team Man and Charge Leader).
The Mountaineers finished the 2006-07 season 27-9, tied for the second-most wins in school history. West Virginia won the 2007 NIT, its first postseason title since 1942.
