PROVIDENCE, R.I. – West Virginia University freshman forward Meg Bulger was named Big East rookie of the week for her efforts in West Virginia’s wins last week against Missouri-Kansas City and Pitt.
In a 69-63 overtime win over UKMC, Bulger collected a season-high 10 rebounds to go with 7 points. She finished the week with five points against Pitt, including a huge 3-point basket with 4:05 to play to help the Mountaineers to a six-point lead on the way to a 65-58 victory.
Bulger averaged 6.0 points and 5.5 rebounds for the week and is averaging 5.8 points and 5.2 rebounds per game for the season.
West Virginia (9-3, 1-0) has a tall task this Wednesday playing host to Connecticut (9-1, 0-0). The Huskies were knocked out of the top spot in the national rankings last Saturday losing 68-67 at home to Duke.
Wednesday’s game will be televised live on Connecticut Public Television and Fox 46 in Clarksburg will air the game on tape delayed basis at 11 pm.
