After serving as a contract producer on projects for athletics during the past 24 years, Scott Bartlett joined the department full time as the Director of Athletic Video Production in July 2014. He brings more than 30 years of television and video production experience to the department.
Bartlett came to Morgantown in 1990 to work as a producer for WVU’s Television Productions Department. He took over producing and directing the award-winning Mountaineer Magazine and Mountaineer Jammin’ television shows for athletics in 1994, and was promoted to production manager of WVU’s Television Productions in 1998.
Outside of his work in television at WVU, Bartlett is also a respected broadcast professional in national network circles. He has served as a producer, director or technical director for many national television networks, including ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, ESPN, TSN and WTBS.
He served as the technical director for the NHL Draft in Pittsburgh in 1997, ABC’s Monday Night Football pregame show in 1998 and ESPN’s NASCAR broadcasts from Bristol Motor Speedway in 2001. Bartlett has worked for nearly every major league baseball team and has traveled extensively to direct college basketball games for ESPN. HIs vast experience in live sports broadcasts and his contacts with the national networks are just two strengths he brings to the department.
A native of St. Albans, W.Va., Bartlett is a 1988 graduate of West Virginia University. He and wife Misti, a 1989 WVU graduate, have two children, A.J., a WVU student majoring in engineering, and Sarah, a student at Morgantown High.
