Dr. Matt Lively oversees all aspects of medical care for Mountaineer athletes and serves as a team physician in the area of general medicine. He is responsible for the day-to-day medical needs of WVU’s athletes.
The Oak Hill, W.Va. native currently serves as a professor in the Internal Medicine and Pediatric Departments of West Virginia University Hospitals. He graduated from WVU in 1988 with a degree in athletic training and went on to earn his master’s degree at Eastern Illinois in 1989 and a doctorate of osteopathic medicine from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in 1993.
Prior to osteopathic medical school, Lively served stints as an athletic trainer for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Eastern Illinois University.
He and his wife, Lisa, reside in Morgantown.
