Flores Named to Mexico National Team

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University junior defender Vanessa Flores has been named to the Mexican Women's National Team for a pair of friendlies against the United States.
The matches will take place on Thursday, April 5, at EverBank Field in Jacksonville, Florida, and Sunday, April 8, at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston. The matches will start at 7 p.m. EST and 1:30 p.m. EST, respectively.
A native of Baytown, Texas, Flores has been training with the full national team since July 2017. She previously played for the Mexican U-20 and U-17 Women's National Teams and participated at the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup.
A member of the 2017 All-Big 12 Second Team, Flores started all 23 matches last season at center back and helped the Mountaineers post 13 shutouts. She finished the year with three points (1 G, 1 A).
Flores also is a standout in the classroom. A two-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team honoree, she was named to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Women's Scholar All-South Region Team in December. Flores also has been named to the President's and Dean's Lists.
