MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Due to the threat of Hurricane Irma, the West Virginia University golf team's season-opening tournament, The Invitational at the Ocean Course, has been canceled.
The Mountaineers were slated to compete at the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Resort on Johns Island, South Carolina, on Monday and Tuesday in the event hosted by the College of Charleston. WVU will instead look to add an additional tournament to its spring schedule.
West Virginia will now open the 2017-18 season at the Janney VCU Shootout on Sept. 18-19 in Richmond, Virginia. The tournament will take place at the Country Club of Virginia.
