MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – After scoring the game-tying and game-winning goals on Saturday, sophomore Albert Andres-Llop has been named the MAC Player of the Week, the Mid-American Conference announced today.
The Vila-Real, Castellon, Spain, native earned his first career Player of the Week accolade. It is the second MAC honor of the season for the Mountaineers, after senior Jad Arslan was recognized on Aug. 29.
Andres-Llop, who scored three of WVU's four goals last week and had an assist on the team's fourth goal, propelled the Mountaineers to a 3-2 overtime win at George Mason on Saturday night.
After assisting on the first goal in the 18th minute, Andres-Llop tied the game at 2-2 with 99 seconds left in the match. Just 97 seconds into overtime, he scored the game-winner off a free kick.
Andres-Llop also scored the Mountaineers' lone goal in a 3-1 loss at UMBC on Wednesday.
In seven matches this season, Andres-Llop is second on the team with three goals and seven points and has one assist. He has six shots, three on goal. He has already topped last season's totals of one goal, six shots and two shots on goal as a freshman.
