Rowing Names 14 To Novice Squad

MORGANTOWN, W.Va – After conducting a two-week tryout, the West Virginia University rowing team has announced its 2017-18 novice squad, featuring 14 first-year rowers.
The squad hails from seven different states and one from Germany. The novice roster also includes four West Virginia natives.
The newest Mountaineers have now earned the opportunity to don the Old Gold and Blue for the first time in the fall of 2017 at the Head of the Occoquan on Saturday, November 4.
"I want to thank all of the students who came to tryouts, the quality of work from these young ladies was excellent," assistant coach Tina Griffith said. "We are very excited with the squad we have chosen and are encouraged by the potential they have and the gains they have already shown in just two weeks of tryouts."
