Mountaineers Maintain No. 1 Ranking

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University rifle team is ranked No. 1 in the College Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) Poll for the second straight week.
This week's rankings are based on the teams' last score shot.
The Mountaineers (4-0, 3-0) last tallied a season-best 4739 in a win over Ole Miss (4647) at the WVU Rifle Range on Oct. 21. Included in the victory was an NCAA air rifle record mark of 2392 and a season-best smallbore showing of 2347.
Kentucky moves up to No. 2 this week, and TCU, the Mountaineers' next opponent, drops to No. 3. Murray State sits at No. 4, and Alaska-Fairbanks ranks No. 5.
Ohio State ranks No. 6 and is followed by Nebraska at No. 7 and Memphis at No. 8. NC State and Ole Miss round out the top 10.
The Mountaineers return to competition this weekend with a pair of matches at the WVU Rifle Range. WVU lines up against the Horned Frogs on Saturday, Nov. 4, and against Army West Point on Sunday, Nov. 5. Both matches will begin at 8 a.m. The WVU Rifle Range is located in the Shell Building behind the WVU Coliseum, and admission to the matches is free.
